Elm House

Set in the Mount Glorious rainforest, Elm House offers a hand-hewn setting for an intimate ceremony. The banquet hall seats 50 guests, while the large lounge and deck provide a relaxed space to gather afterward. Located right beside the Maiala rainforest walk, its peaceful and natural beauty make it ideal for a simple, heartfelt farewell.

A Sunset favourite, the Food Connect Shed is a community-owned space that’s perfect if you’re looking for somewhere that’s both unique and practical. It’s spacious and flexible with an on-site kitchen and bar that makes organising catering and drinks simple. It’s a practical and ethical choice for families who want a large, open setting to celebrate a life.

Walkabout Creek

Walkabout Creek offers a calm, bushland setting that feels worlds away from the city. With versatile rooms for both intimate and larger gatherings, it adapts easily to your needs. In-house catering takes the pressure off planning, while the peaceful reservoir views provide a grounding space for families to connect

The Black Brisbane

Venue FAQ’s

  • Absolutely! See our suppliers page for some that we recommend. If you’d like to use your own caterer, we’re happy to take care of all the logistical heavy lifting at no extra cost

  • All of the venues we recommend offer longer bookings. We actually recommend this as it gives you time to connect and say goodbye without feeling rushed.

  • This refers to venues where you can hold a full funeral with a coffin present on the day. Those that are listed as “no” for coffin present are suitable for a memorial, where your person isn’t present on the day. Read more on our blog here.

  • Yes, it’s quite common to hold different elements of the ceremony across two locations. For example, you might host the ceremony at one venue followed by a burial or ashes scattering elsewhere. Extra fees may apply so please contact us to discuss.

  • In line with our pricing policy, we adjust the final invoice to reflect the true costs of the service, so if your chosen venue is low or no-cost, you’ll only pay the actual price. Please note that a Council fee may apply to ceremonies held in public spaces.

  • There are no rules when it comes to honoring someone’s life. Sunset specialises in creating ceremonies that reflect the real essence of the life being celebrated, so we thrive on a challenge.
