We can help you shape a farewell in any space that feels right, from a traditional chapel to something unique. Whatever your preference, we suggest picking a spot where you won’t be rushed. Below are a few of our favourite venues to work with, though we’re just as happy to hold a ceremony somewhere special to you — even if that's your own backyard.

Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery

Location: 285 Graham Rd, Bridgeman Downs 4035 (Google maps)

Tucked into the gum trees at Bridgeman Downs, Pinnaroo is defined by its native bushland setting. The chapels and function rooms feature large windows looking right into the greenery, and onsite catering rooms mean you can hold a simple wake without leaving the grounds.

Albany Creek Memorial Park

With its massive established gardens and central lake, Albany Creek feels more like a sprawling park. Because the grounds house multiple indoor chapels and outdoor spaces, you can match the setting to the crowd size, whether that means a handful of people or a large crowd.

Great Northern Garden of Remembrance

Location: 31 Tallowwood Dr, Deception Bay QLD 4508 (Google maps)

Great Northern features a main chapel overlooking a water feature, an on-site catering area, and an outdoor gazebo. Having every space in one location means you can transition straight from the service to the wake, which takes the logistical stress out of the day by removing mid-day travel.

Great Southern Memorial Park

Location: 1774-1794 Mount Cotton Rd, Carbrook QLD 4130 (Google maps)

Great Southern offers a smaller chapel for groups of up to 40, and a main chapel that seats 100. If you’re expecting a bigger crowd, they use wide verandas and outdoor speakers to open the space up further. It’s a well-equipped spot with full AV for music and photos, plus an on-site catering area, so you can keep the service and the wake all in one location.

Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens

Location: 329 Nursery Rd, Holland Park QLD 4121 (Google maps)

Located in Holland Park, Mt. Thompson features two spaces: the original West Chapel and the more modern East Chapel. Both buildings include live-streaming capability for remote guests. The venue also offers twilight services, catering for families wanting an evening gathering on-site with views of the sunset over the city.

Centenary Memorial Gardens

Location: 353 Wacol Station Road, Sumner Queensland 4074 (Google maps)

Centenary in Brisbane’s west offers the indoor Federation Chapel or the outdoor Garden Chapel overlooking the lake. Both spaces include live-streaming capability for remote guests. A dedicated refreshment lounge is located a short walk from the chapels, making it easy to head straight to a catered gathering on-site after the service.

Mt Gravatt Cemetary Chapel

Located just 15 minutes from the city, the Mt Gravatt Cemetery Chapel offers a convenient, versatile space that comfortably fits around 80 seated guests, with room for another 40 standing. Whether you are planning a traditional ceremony or a modern memorial, it provides a simple and respectful environment to bring everyone together.

Sandgate Town Hall

Sandgate Town Hall features classic architecture, timber floors, and genuine old-world charm. Its large size makes it ideal for ceremonies where you expect a large turnout. The historic space provides a straightforward, welcoming setting for both a formal service and a relaxed wake afterward.

Rochedale Community Hall

An Anglican church in a past lifetime, the Rochedale Community Hall is a charming and practical option for gatherings of up to 75 people, A simple, welcoming space that does the job perfectly without feeling overly formal.

Samsonvale and Districts Public Hall

The  quiet, country setting of the 130-year-old Samsonvale Hall creates an inviting feel and peaceful atmosphere. An on-site kitchen and outdoor area make it easy to transition into a relaxed lunch or cuppa, offering a welcoming space where you can take your time.

Cedar Creek Public Hall

The Upper Brookfield Community Hall is a 1930’s timber classic in a quiet valley 30 minutes west of Brisbane. Offering flexibility for an indoor or outdoor ceremony, it’s a great spot for a relaxed, natural farewell. The open layout and shady lawn make it easy to set up a catered wake afterwards.

Elm House

Venue FAQ’s

  • Absolutely! See our suppliers page for some that we recommend. If you’d like to use your own caterer, we’re happy to take care of all the logistical heavy lifting at no extra cost

  • All of the venues we recommend offer longer bookings. We actually recommend this as it gives you time to connect and say goodbye without feeling rushed.

  • This refers to venues where you can hold a full funeral with a coffin present on the day. Those that are listed as “no” for coffin present are suitable for a memorial, where your person isn’t present on the day. Read more on our blog here.

  • Yes, it’s quite common to hold different elements of the ceremony across two locations. For example, you might host the ceremony at one venue followed by a burial or ashes scattering elsewhere. Extra fees may apply so please contact us to discuss.

  • In line with our pricing policy, we adjust the final invoice to reflect the true costs of the service, so if your chosen venue is low or no-cost, you’ll only pay the actual price. Please note that a Council fee may apply to ceremonies held in public spaces.

  • There are no rules when it comes to honoring someone’s life. Sunset specialises in creating ceremonies that reflect the real essence of the life being celebrated, so we thrive on a challenge.
